The Earth Science department at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) proudly announces the accomplishments of its distinguished alumnus, Ph\u1ea1m Thanh Thu\u1ef3 (\u8303\u6e05\u6c34), who got the PhD degree in NTNU\u2019s Earth Sciences Department at 2020 and now has been appointed as a Lecturer \u2013 Researcher at University of Science, Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUS, VNU-HCM). This significant career milestone underscores Ph\u1ea1m Thanh Thu\u1ef3\u2019s dedication to advancing education and research in Earth sciences and Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Geology, where Ph\u1ea1m Thanh Th\u00f9y works, has successfully hosted the first international Conference on Earth Sciences and Sustainable Development (CESD 2024) on November 11\u201312, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam together with the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, Faculty of Environment (HCMUS) and Faculty of Petrology and Petroleum Engineering (University of Technology, VNU-HCM). The CESD 2024 welcomed participants from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, India, Poland, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and other countries, fostering collaboration to address global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference attracted more than 250 attendees from 9 different countries and tackled critical global challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge research in Earth sciences and Sustainable Development, with a program divided into five thematic sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Petroleum and Green Energy
Focus: Exploring the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, including carbon capture and sustainable energy innovations.
Highlights: Geothermal energy advancements, hydrogen technology development, and sustainable petroleum engineering practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geophysics, Geology, and Earth Resources
Focus: Delving into Earth\u2019s structural dynamics, resource management, and sustainable exploration.
Highlights: Tectonic studies, remote sensing advancements, and innovative mining technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oceanography, Hydrology, and Climate Change
Focus: Addressing oceanic and hydrological systems\u2019 roles in climate dynamics and sustainable water resource management.
Highlights: Studies on ocean acidification, hydrological modeling, and climate resilience strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environment, Health Sciences, and Climate Change
Focus: Examining the interconnectedness of environmental health, climate adaptation, and human well-being.
Highlights: Air quality\u2019s health impacts, greenhouse gas reduction techniques, and climate-adaptive health systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Environmental Sciences and Land Economics
Focus: Investigating socio-economic and environmental dynamics, land use, and sustainable development policies.
Highlights: Environmental justice, urban sustainability, and land use conflict resolutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
